a few years ago i was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, pcos, and mast cell activation syndrome within the span of about a year. hormone stuff, immune stuff, the whole tangle. i did what most people do: i cleaned up my food, cut out the obvious offenders, started tracking supplements. i still wasn't well.
the moment that actually changed things happened at a doctor's office, not in my kitchen. my doctor prescribed a topical progesterone cream, and something clicked for me: if a cream rubbed onto skin could meaningfully raise my hormone levels, then everything else i was putting on my skin every day was doing something too. it just wasn't something anyone had bothered to tell me about.
so i started reading labels the way i'd started reading nutrition facts years earlier. body wash, lotion, and yes, perfume. nearly everything scented in my bathroom cabinet listed "fragrance" as an ingredient, with nothing behind it. no breakdown, no disclosure, just one word doing a lot of hiding. i learned that word can legally contain phthalates and synthetic musks, materials with real research behind their potential to interfere with hormone signaling. for someone already managing three hormone and immune conditions, that wasn't a small thing to find out.
the bottle i couldn't find
i went looking for a fragrance i could actually trust and kept coming up short. plenty of brands said "clean" or "natural" without disclosing anything, which felt like the same problem wearing a nicer label. i wanted something that smelled like the mornings i grew up loving, the beach at sunrise, salt on your shoulders, skin still cool from the water, but built from ingredients i could actually name.
so i started formulating it myself. morning sun is built on two scents, salted sun and vanilla sun, each made from naturally derived aromatics in a hydrating oil base, verified against the iso 16128-2 standard, with every ingredient disclosed on the label. no phthalates, no parabens, no known endocrine disruptors. it's the bottle i spent a long time looking for and couldn't find, so we made it.
if you're managing a hormone condition, an autoimmune diagnosis, or you're just tired of guessing what "fragrance" means on a label, i built this for you as much as for myself. your skin absorbs what you put on it. it deserves to know what that is.
