Our story

The bottle I couldn't find.

I've loved fragrance my entire life. Perfume has always felt like one of the small, sacred ways we get to shape how we move through the world — the scent someone remembers you by, the scent that pulls a memory back a decade later, the scent you catch on yourself and feel like the version of you you wanted to be that day.

But a few years ago, I started really reading ingredient labels. Not skimming — reading. And I realized every scented body product I owned was hiding what was in it behind one word: fragrance. Under U.S. law, companies don't have to disclose what's actually in that. It's a trade secret. And in most cases, it includes phthalates, synthetic musks, and other endocrine disruptors — chemicals that mimic or interfere with the way your body's hormones work.

Once I knew, I couldn't unknow.

I tried switching to clean alternatives. I bought the essential-oil sprays, the "natural" body oils, the ones that promised safety. But none of them smelled beautiful. Nothing wore the way perfume wears — close to skin, warm, becoming part of you as the day goes on. I didn't want to give up scent. I just wanted to trust it.

Morning Sun is the brand I couldn't find. I spent months working with a natural perfumer and a formulator to build a body oil that's genuinely clean — no phthalates, no parabens, no known endocrine disruptors — and that smells like real perfume. Every ingredient is fully disclosed on the bottle. Nothing hiding.

The name comes from that feeling of skin in morning light. Warm, soft, alive. That's what I want this bottle to be for you.

I write about the whole thing on Substack — the formulation research, the packaging decisions, the small choices that shape a brand. If you want to see how it's made, come read.

Thank you for being here.
